Safety guidelines
These apply on every walk, no exceptions. They're what let us keep inviting complete beginners, families, and kids along with total confidence.
-
Nothing gets eaten. Ever.
This is the one rule that makes all the others possible. Every walk is about looking, learning, and photographing, never tasting, never collecting for the kitchen. If you're craving mushrooms for dinner, that's what the grocery store is for.
-
Look, don't touch
We admire mushrooms exactly where they're growing. No picking, no moving one for a better photo angle, no poking to see what's underneath. Some species can irritate skin, and none of them need our hands on them.
-
Keep a close eye on little hands
Kids are always welcome, and part of what makes them great at this is getting close to the ground. Grown-ups walking with children keep a close watch so curious fingers stay out of curious mouths.
-
Leave No Trace
Stay on trail where possible, pack out everything you bring in, and leave every mushroom, log, and patch of moss exactly as you found it.
-
Respect the land
Access rules vary by trail and by season. The organizer checks whatever's current for that piece of land before a walk is posted to the schedule.
-
Stay with the group
It's easy to lose track of time and distance while looking down. Groups check in at set points on every walk, especially on longer routes.
