Reem walking through an autumn forest, seen from behind, wearing a blue jacket and patterned beanie.
Out on the trail, autumn colours in full swing.

I'm completely, unapologetically passionate about mushrooms, the way they show up seemingly overnight, the sheer variety of shapes and colors tucked into a single patch of forest, the little bit of detective work it takes to figure out what you're looking at. I love eating mushrooms too, just never ones I've picked myself in the wild. That distinction is basically the whole idea behind this group.

The Spore Trail started because I wanted an excuse to get outside, breathe some real air, and go looking for mushrooms with people who'd enjoy it as much as I do, no pressure to know anything going in, and nothing riding on what we find. I organize every walk myself: I pick the meeting point and the time, and I'm always there, happy to crouch down next to you and get excited about whatever we've just spotted.

One thing I want to be upfront about: The Spore Trail is a casual, unguided activity, not a professional or certified guiding service. I'm there as a fellow mushroom enthusiast, not as your guide, and everyone who joins is responsible for their own safety and decisions on the trail. You'll find the full details on our Code of Conduct & Disclaimer page, it's short, please give it a read before your first walk.

Everyone is welcome here. Total beginners, lifelong nature nerds, families, kids of any age, if you're curious about what's growing in the woods and you'd like some company while you look, there's a spot for you on the trail. Come as you are, bring a camera if you've got one, and let's go see what we can find.
